Travel disruption - how our policy can help

Travel disruption can take different forms but the result is usually the same: inconvenience.

When you take out the Enhanced level of cover on our policy, you have additional cover to help in certain situations:

  • The cancellation section is extended to cover you if you have to cancel your trip as a result of the Travel Advice Unit of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), the World Health Organisation (WHO) or similar body issuing a directive prohibiting all travel or all but essential travel to the country or specific area or event to which you were booked to travel, providing the directive came into force after you purchased this insurance or booked the trip (whichever is the later).
  • The Curtailment section is similarly extended to cover you if you have to curtail your trip as a result of the Travel Advice Unit of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), the World Health Organisation (WHO) or similar body issuing a directive prohibiting all travel or all but essential travel to the country or specific area or event to which you are travelling, providing the directive came into force after you purchased and after you have left your home to commence the trip (whichever is the later).
  • The Additional Travel & Accommodation part of the Travel Disruption section is extended if you need to buy extra accommodation or incur extrs travel costs (finding an alternative route) as a result of the public transport you were booked on being cancelled, delayed longer than 12 hours, diverted or redirected after take-off.

Please read the relevant sections in the Policy Wording for full details.
