What our policy covers

We have different kinds of cover to meet your needs:

  • Europe only or Worldwide (not 5 or 6 categories like most insurers have - we like to keep things simple!)
  • Single trip policy that covers you from 5 days to an incredible maximum of 365 days away (but don't confuse this with an annual policy)
  • Annual, multi-trip policy that covers you for any number of trips in a year up to a maximum or 31, 45 or 60 days per trip
  • Cover for only you or also your partner/spouse and/or family/friends
  • Two levels of cover - Standard and Enhanced
  • Optional extras such as cover for winter sports/other activities and the excess waiver - so you don't pay the excess when making a claim
  • Cover is available to any resident of an EU country

Important: should the worst happen and you have to cancel or curtail your trip because of your HIV, anyone travelling with you who also wishes to cancel or curtail their trip should also be insured with us. If they have “ordinary” travel insurance their claim could be declined, as these policies are not designed to insure them if they are travelling with someone who has a pre-existing medical condition.

Our policy is comprehensive and includes cover for

  • Medical expenses including treatment and medication
  • Expenses if your medication is lost or stolen eg the cost of seeing a doctor for a prescription and purchase of medication. If you can't obtain medication where you are, we will pay for the cost of medication to be sent to you by courier from the UK
  • Cancellation (for example if you're medically unfit to travel)
  • Curtailment (for example if you have to cut short your trip in certain circumstances)
  • Repatriation if it's medically necessary
  • Lost/stolen/damaged baggage and personal items
  • Cover for valuables
  • Delay
  • Winter sports and other sports/activities

You must observe travel advice provided by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). No cover is provided under any section of this policy in respect of travel to a destination to which the FCO has advised against all or all but essential travel. Travel advice can be obtained from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office: www.gov.uk/fco telephone: +44 020 7008 1500.

Single Trip: the premium depends on the number of days you are away. Don’t forget to include the day you leave and the day you arrive back in the UK. A week, Saturday to Saturday, is therefore 8 days. We can provide cover for up to 365 days, sometimes longer!

Annual Multi-trip: You can take as many trips in a year as you like. We can offer policies that cover you for up to 31, 45 or 60 days per trip (counting the day you leave your home country and the day you get back). Cover is available up to the age of 74. When you renew, you receive a discount off the current year’s price.

Individual/Couple/Family: Special rates apply for couples and families, which obviously include same sex couples/families.

Age limits: We can provide annual policies to people up to the age of 74. We can provide policies for individual trips up to the age of 79.
