If you are HIV+ it is essential that you have a travel insurance policy that will include HIV in its cover. Why? Because if you travel without this kind of protection, you may be faced with very large medical expenses - especially if you travel outside Europe. A European Health Insurance Card is no guarantee that you will receieve free medical treatment within Europe. Also, it will not insure you against expenses connected to cancellation, cutting short or extending your trip if you are ill ( air fares, hotel bills etc).
Our insurance is much more than only a travel health insurance - it is comprehensive protection when you travel. For example, the policy covers you for:
- medical expenses - consultations, treatment, medication
- medical and other expenses related to winter sports and other sports activities
- cancellation costs if you are unable to travel because of illness
- costs of returning to Germany for medical reasons including air ambulance and medically qualified staff to accompany you, where necessary
- expenses incurred by a travelling companion when they are also insured by us
- loss of or damage to your baggage
- loss of personal items and money
- loss of passport and/or driving license
- personal accident, loss of limb(s) or death
- personal liability (costs claimed by someone else if you cause injury to them)
- legal expenses
People can cover:
- you
- you and your partner
- you and your family
- your travelling companions
The types of trips we can cover:
- one trip
- any number of trips in a year (maximum of 31 days per trip) under an annual, multi-trip policy
- a long stay trip (up to 365 days away from Germany)
Where we can cover you:
- within Germany (as long as you stay in paid accommodation for at least 2 nights)
- within Europe
- Worldwide
