FAQ
How is your policy special?
'Ordinary' travel insurance policies usually will not cover you for claims related to HIV. So if you need to cancel, cut short your holiday or need medical treatment during your trip, the claim is unlikely to be met. Even if you had a non-HIV related illness or accident and your HIV status became known, the insurer may cancel the entire policy as you would be regarded as not having disclosed all facts. This could mean thousands of Euros in treatment and return home flights - much more if you need an air ambulance. Our travel insurance policy will meet claims related to HIV. It will also insure anyone travelling with you as long as they are also insured by the policy. What kinds of policy do you offer? We offer insurance for individual trips or you can be covered under an annual, multi-trip policy. Under a multi-trip policy, you can take as many trips in a year as you wish, provided no individual trip is longer than 31 days. This maximum cannot be extended and if you take a trip that exceeds 31 days, no part of your trip will be covered. Trips of more than 31 days have to covered under a single trip policy. Is there an upper age limit on your policy? Yes - we can insure people up to the age of 75 under a single trip policy and up to the age 65 under an annual, multi trip policy. The age limit applies to the age you are when you book the policy. Full details of the cover can be found by clicking the link Details of Our Insurance at the top of the page. You can also view or download the full policy wording from that page. In short, you have up to £5 million for medical expenses, up to £3,000 for cancellation or curtailment and up to £1,500 for loss of baggage or personal items. The levels of cover are per person. Cancellation cover can be increased. There is an additional cost. Please contact us about this. There is a single item limit of £150. More valuable items should be insured under your home contents insurance. Scuba diving up to 30 metres and certain other activities are automatically covered under the list of Level 1 activities as shown in the policy wording. There is an additional cost to include activities in the Level 2 list. Please contact us for details. Are there any situations your policy won't cover? Yes. No insurance policy will cover every situation and they all have exclusions. These are detailed in the policy wording. Can you cover other medical conditions? If you have a medical condition in addition to HIV or if someone travelling with you has a medical condition, you need to contact our medical screening service. Their number is +44 845 643 2634. They can take calls only in English. If we can include additional medical conditions, they will let you know if there is any additional cost. They will also give you a reference number. Please ensure you type the additional medical condition(s) and reference number in the field that asks for these details online booking form. Are there any excesses on your policy? Yes. If you make a medical expense claim, you will need to meet the first £75 of that claim or £50 for other areas of cover. However, you can take out an excess waiver, which means if you then make a claim, the insurance will pay out in full. The cost of the excess waiver depends on whether you are taking out a single trip or annual, multi-trip policy. Quotes can be obtained by clicking on the Online Quote & Book link at the top of the screen. Do you pass my name or other details on to anyone else? Your confidential information is not passed to others (unless we need to confirm to the medical assistance service that your medical condition is covered). We are registered with the UK Data Protection Commission. Do the documents you send me disclose my HIV status? No. Our policy covers HIV simply by ommitting the exclusion clauses that other policies contain. This protects your confidentiality. Furthermore, we insure people who have a wide range of medical conditions as well as people who have none, so just because you've insured with us, it does not indicate that you are HIV+. How will my payment appear on my credit/debit card statement? It will appear as It's So Easy Travel Ins. |
