Our policy is designed to cover HIV without the need for you to contact a separate medical screening line. If the only medical condition you have is HIV, you can simply book the policy now by phone or the online quote and book system.
However, if you or someone you're travelling with has another medical condition or you don't meet the health warranty (see below) you need to contact the medical screening service, Mediquote. You can then declare any additional medical conditions or explain why you don't meet the health warranty. After the screening process, hopefully we will be able to extend our cover to include those situations.
This is a simple, step by step guide to our cover If
you or someone you're travelling with has a medical
condition. Please read through it carefully.
The Health Warranty
Please read the health warranty below, carefully. If any of the situations listed applies, you will need to declare the medical
condition and have it accepted for cover by our medical screening service.
HEALTH WARRANTY
You
must advise us if any of the following apply to a
person to be insured, a travelling companion, an immediate
relative, close business associate or someone upon
whom the trip depends, (whether they are travelling
with you or not ):

Have you/they in the last 6 months:
a: been receiving, recovering from, or on a waiting list
for in-patient treatment in a hospital or nursing
home?
b: changed the type or dosage of any medication for the control of HIV?

During the 12 months have you/they suffered from
or received treatment, advice or medication for any
chronic, ongoing or recurring illness or condition
other than for the control of HIV? (A chronic condition
is one lasting three months or more). |

Are you/they travelling against the advice
of a medical practitioner or in order to get medical
treatment abroad? |
| 4: |
Have you/they been diagnosed as having a terminal
illness? |
| 5: |
Are you/they waiting for the results of tests or
investigations, or awaiting a referral for an existing
medical condition? |
| 6: |
Other than specified in 1 5 above, were
you/they aware of any reason why the trip could be
cancelled or curtailed or of any medical condition,
which could result in a claim? |

If one or more of the above situations applies to you, please telephone Mediquote on 0845 643 2634.
They will need to know if you'd like cover for just one trip or an annual, multi-trip policy and the date you'd like an annual policy to start.
If we can extend cover for you, they will give you a reference number. When you book your policy, please let us know that you've gone through the screening process and provide us with your reference number.
Depending on the outcome of the screening process, there may or may not be a premium supplement. If there is, that is payable to Mediquote.
